The island of dolls

Let's stop in Xochimilco, marshy region south of Mexico City where one of the scariest places in the world. A deserted island where the atmosphere is heavy. Once there, malaise grabs you and refer you to your worst nightmares of your childhood. A tourist attraction rather odd that will delight adventurers in search of unusual experiences. For phobics, this island is known as the "isla de la munecas" Island of the dolls ...
It was in the 50s that begins when a legend Don Julian Santana Barrera leaves his wife and children to live alone. It was on this island was haunted by the spirit of a little girl found drowned in the canal that borders the island years before his arrival.

To calm the ghost of the girl and reject bad luck, Don Julian is doing something weird. It will collect thousands of abandoned dolls everywhere to hang on trees, plants, walls and everywhere on the island.

Don Julian will continue his quest for dolls in landfills and locals around the island even bartered with him by sharing their dolls against the vegetables he grew on the island.

Over time, the weather, the years pass by, her dolls were broken giving them a frightening appearance covered with cobwebs, dirt, mud. The legend is running!
It was in the 90s that the island was discovered by the general public in an environmental program to clean the canals of Xochimilco. The trajineras, local gondolas, were able to freely access the "isla de la munecas" became a kind of creepy attraction for adventurers who want to think outside the box.

How to get there?

It is not so easy to access. The island is located 20 km south of Mexico City. The trajinera is the only way to access it. It takes two hours to get there so make sure you book the day for this excursion.
Sunscreen and sandwich in the bag, a DVD SOS ghost why not and you're ready to face Chucky
